Idelisse Malavé is an attorney who has litigated civil rights cases with the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, represented people of color in small businesses and women in divorces in a small private practice, and served as Vice President of the Ms. Foundation for Women for six years. For the past 11 years she has been Executive Director of the Tides Foundation, where her duties included interviewing staff and grantees and running focus groups, as well as program development and environmental scanning. She is the co-author of Mother Daughter Revolution, a book on the social change potential in this family relationship. She interviewed countless women and girls for the book, and as a fluent Spanish speaker, many in Spanish. She has served on the boards of many social change organizations in the course of her 30 year career. Currently, she is advising the Rockwood Institute staff on integrating anti-racism more explicitly and deeply into their leadership development work. Included in this work is the development of a 360 degree personal assessment questionnaire, as well as training curricula and materials for activists.s an attorney who has litigated civil rights cases with the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, represented people of color in small businesses and women in divorces in a small private practice, and served as Vice President of the Ms. Foundation for Women for six years.
