15th Annual Gamaliel National Clergy Training

“Love, Power and Justice: Sharing our Journey
as
People of Faith”

This training was important to Gamaliel Clergy Leaders. Some suggested that the three-day training was fantastic!  The event rooted strong corporate worship that reflected the diversity of the Gamaliel network where leaders offered the best from their traditions.

At the center of the retreat were groups of three to five people where clergy used Gamaliel tools like the one on ones and agitation to support one another in their ministries. Many found this renewing as they reflected on and shared their own faith journey and practiced agitating one another to act on their deeply held values and goal. The retreat planning hope this experience will encourage our spiritual leaders to seek similar ways of deepening the experience of congregational Core Teams.

Trainees were reminded again and again that powerful congregation based organizing is rooted in the practice of our faith. Galluzzo made it clear that he was depending of clergy to root organizing in the faith of their congregation.

Both Galluzzo and keynote speaker, Rev. Timothy McDonald from Atlanta called for a "New American Majority" acting powerfully together so that American life reflects once again the values widely held by Gamaliel Network congregations. Such a new American Majority will be rooted in decisions by African Americans, Latinos, and working class people to work together.
