Keynote Address
Reverend Dennis Jacobsen

The Rev. Dr. Dennis Jacobsen is the pastor of Incarnation Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and serves as the Director of the Gamaliel National Clergy Caucus, which represents the 1,500 plus clergy of the Gamaliel Foundation affiliates across the country. In that capacity, Jacobsen travels nationally as a presenter and resource person on congregation-based organizing. He is a founding pastor and leader in MICAH (Milwaukee Inner-city Congregations Allied for Hope).  Jacobsen has chaired the Congregation-Based Organizing Team of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which has conducted three national summits on faith-based organizing for several hundred ELCA church leaders, pastors, seminarians, and laity and which has provided practical and theological training events in each of the eight ELCA seminaries.   His Doctor of Ministry studies at New York Theological Seminary focused on church-based organizing.  He has served on the faculty of S.C.U.P.E. (Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education).  Jacobsen was honored by Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago as the 2007 Distinguished Alumnus for Peace and Justice. Pastor Jacobsen is the author of Doing Justice: congregations and community organizing (Fortress Press, 2001) and is currently working on a second book connecting spirituality to congregation-based organizing.
