GAMALIEL NATIONAL CLERGY CAUCUS
ASKS AFFILIATES TO DECLARE
HEALTH CARE
A GAMALIEL NATIONAL ISSUE

More than 48 million people in the United States have no health insurance. Millions more are inadequately insured. Personal, corporate, and social economies are threatened by soaring costs.

Uneven access to quality health care creates yet another harsh dividing line in our society. Many families are forced to decide between putting food on the table or buying health insurance for their children. Very often They are left with a choice between paying the rent or purchasing essential medicines.

All the while, CEOs of major health companies are paid millions of dollars each year and pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars in profits.

Economic and racial disparities in access to quality health care are prevalent and pervasive.

Dr. King’s prophetic condemnation speaks to current realities:

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.”
