HOW TO CREATE
ADOBE PDF FILES
USING ADOBE PAGEMAKER…

and access them from your affiliate web site.

 

It is always worthwhile to consult the software’s manual or help index for version specific instructions.

 

In general here is the process for creating a PDF file.

 

  1. Open the file in page maker.
  2. Click on file
  3. Click on export
  4. Click on Adobe PDF
  5. Click on ok
  6. Specify the folder where you wish the file to be placed. (Creating a PDF for the web folder will simplify posting the PDF file to the web.)
  7. When the conversion is completed, close the file and close PageMaker.
  8. With Windows Explorer navigate to the folder to which you saved this file, double click the file. This should evoke Adobe Acrobat Read and you should be able to see if your file was properly converted.
  9. Close the file; close acrobat reader.
  10. From Windows Explorer, copy the file to your clipboard. Close windows explorer, and if prompted, choose keep file on clipboard.
  11. Open Internet Explorer, navigate to the page from which you wish to link to the PDF file.
  12. Click edit in FrontPage Icon.
  13. Name the link (our sample file is called Adobe PDF icon“marriage illustration”
  14. Highlight your affiliate folder
  15. Right click the mouse and paste (front page will import the PDF file)
  16. Return to the page from which you wish to link to the PDFfile.
  17. Highlight the link text.
  18. Hover your cursor over the highlighted link
  19. Right click the mouse/ hyperlink.
  20. In your affiliate folder, highlight your PDF file and click OK.
  21. Click the preview in browser icon.
  22. When the link page loads, click on the link text
  23. When the Adobe Acrobat Read file has loaded and you have verified that your file has loaded, close the file in Acrobat reader and Acrobat reader. (This will likely send you back to FrontPage.
  24. It is a good idea to include a link that will allow your users to download Acrobat Reader.

  1. Adobe PDF icon It is also a good idea to precede your PDF file with the PDF file icon.
  2. Both of these graphics can be copied from this page.
  3. After you have completed steps 1-23, Navigate to this page again.
  4. Click on the FrontPage Icon.
  5. When this page has loaded in FrontPage, highlight the Down Load Acrobat Reader text and linked icon and copy it to your clipboard.
  6. If you click page is not available open it in your affiliate folder list.
  7. Paste the clipboard content into this page at the insertion point of your choosing.
  8. If you loose the hyper click this is the current hyperlink:

  9. Repeat steps 29-31 for the PDF file icon
  10. Click on the graphic icon, then picture property to make sure the graphic will flow text to the right of the graphic. Adjust text if necessary.
  11. Save your link page
  12. Preview your page in your browser.
  13. From your browser test each link to make sure they are working properly.
  14. Close the browser

Close FrontPage if you are done using the program.
