South Bend, IN, April 18, 2011—Efforts by Gamaliel affiliate Transforming Action for Power (TAP) have stopped a host of anti-immigrant measures from becoming law in a statewide immigration bill awaiting the signature of Governor Mitch Daniels. Hundreds of faith and community leaders from TAP spent weeks pressing the governor and state legislators not to pass an earlier draft of the bill that would have mandated racial profiling and put cruelty before justice.
