Coming this week: Immigration Action in Iowa

CRI leaders will be in Iowa Thursday through Sunday to advocate for immigrant integration and immigration reform. Details of the planned major events for the Iowa Freedom Ride are below. Asamblea de Derechos Civiles, Quad Cities Interfaith and national allies are heading to Iowa to discuss immigrant integration and reform with candidates from both parties this week.

Rallies, processions and vigils will all be part of our actions for 5 days at different cities within Iowa. Here's a tentative agenda for the week:

Wednesday, August 19

9 a.m. Minneapolis Send-off Ceremony, Incarnation Catholic Church, Minneapolis

1 p.m. Vigil and Procession- “Reflecting on What’s At Stake,” 141 W Williams St, Postville, IA 

5:30 Vigil and Procession- “Citizenship Now!” St Patrick Catholic Church, 4330 St Patrick Drive, Iowa City

Thursday, August 20

11 a.m. “Freedom Pilgrimage” Vigil and Procession, National Cattle Congress, 247 Ansboro Ave, Waterloo

4:30 p.m. Immigration Reform March, St Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport

Friday, August 20

3:30 p.m. Protest: Immigration and Customs Enforcement Headquarters, 210 Walnut Drive, Des Moines, IA

6:30 Prayer Vigil outside Ted Cruz’s “Rally for Religious Liberty,” 833 5th Ave S, Des Moines, IA

Saturday, August 22

10 to 4 p.m. Iowa State Fair, interactions with candidates at Soapbox, prayer vigils around candidate booths

Sunday, August 23

Meetings with local faith communities, available for interviews
