WHAT:  A grassroots campaign by people of faith asking legislators to stand boldly this session for quality education for all children in Minnesota.  We know that solid education benefits all of us in Minnesota regardless of our zip code, ethnicity, language, or creed.

WHY:  All of our destinies are linked.  Isolation and separation do NOT make us wealthier or safer.  We must act, together, towards a bold vision that values every person living in Minnesota.  Quality education, including the closing of the opportunity gap for children around the state, is a cornerstone of this vision.

Our conversation with legislators (both DFL and Republican) indicates that although many support education as a priority, they need to be pushed to move more quickly on strengthening funding and programs.  Grassroots support from ISAIAH and other organizations will help waffling legislators to take bolder steps this session.

How:  Two individuals from different districts will pair up and meet with each of their legislators.  For example, two people, one from Woodbury (56B, Rep. Swails) and one from Eagan (38B, Wardlow) will pair up for two visits, one with each legislator, to share their stories, listen to their legislators’ thoughts on education, and ask them to support quality education for all Minnesota children.

Training, support, and matchmaking will be provided at the education meeting on Tuesday, March 13th, 7- 9 pm at St. Richards, 7540 Penn Avenue in Richfield.
