The Gamaliel National Clergy Caucus Board
GNCC Board

The affairs of the clergy caucus are managed by a board of elected representatives who meet quarterly with Director Rev. Dr. Dennis Jacobsen to strategize about how Gamaliel clergy can be vision bearers of the Network.

GAMALIEL NATIONAL CLERGY CAUCUS

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES

(printable copy)

GNCC Regional Representatives are to be selected annually at regional retreats, meetings or gatherings of local Clergy Caucuses within each region of the Gamaliel network. In this way they will have standing with their regional clergy and can truly serve as their representatives.

Representatives selected in this manner from those regions which have at least ten dues‑paying members in the Gamaliel National Clergy Caucus will be invited to serve on the GNCC Board. GNCC Regional Representatives have the following responsibilities:

  • to participate in quarterly meetings of the GNCC Officers and Regional Representatives, which are normally held at the Gamaliel offices in Chicago in January, May and September;

  • to offer a written regional report at the annual meeting of the GNCC, which is usually convened in connection with the National Leadership Assembly in December;

  • to strengthen their local clergy caucuses in accord with the design for a "Model Clergy Caucus" by developing relationships with key clergy leaders, especially the chair of the caucus, by developing relationships with judicatory leaders, by recruiting new congregations, by strengthening the financial base of the local organizations, and by encouraging clergy support for metropolitan and regional organizing;

  • to work with Senior Staff and clergy caucus chairs to recruit clergy for the GNCC annual training and retreat and for other national GNCC events; to ensure representation from the local Clergy Caucuses at the annual GNCC meeting; to submit each year an updated mailing list of Gamaliel clergy to the GNCC Secretary;

  • to meet at least quarterly with regional Senior Staff to assess the strength of local Clergy Caucuses and to plan involvement of key clergy in such regional considerations as judicatory relationships, funding, recruitment, expansion to new cities, training and strategic actions; and

  • to work with Clergy Caucus chairs to encourage more clergy to become dues‑paying members of the GNCC.

The GNCC Director will be in regular communication with the GNCC Regional Representatives to support their efforts and to ensure a good working relationship with the Senior Staff. Expenses for the representatives' travel and housing at GNCC Board meetings will be paid by the GNCC.

Effective GNCC Regional Representatives are key to ensuring the development of strong local Clergy Caucuses woven into a powerful national network of Gamaliel clergy.
