I had the pleasure of participating in Fire of Faith meetings with MOSES in Detroit MI, FCCG in Springfield IL, EmHR in Norfolk VA, ACTION in Youngstown OH, MCU in St. Louis MO, VOICE Buffalo NY, QCI in Davenport IA and GMC in Chicago IL. On November 15, I will be with MICAH in Milwaukee WI.

Every conference I attended was well prepared and well scripted. The issues were clearly expressed. Thousands of persons joined us throughout the Gamaliel network. I can say confidently from personal experience that we are well on our way to fueling the Fire of Faith. I thank all who are engaged in making this exciting campaign happen.

From http://www.huffingtonpost.com (Blog) I was born in the Dominican Republic and spend 200 days a year crossing the U.S. as a community organizer, but I grew up in the South Bronx, and I'm a New York City girl for life.

Metro Chicago’s October 30 public meeting was the second Fire of Faith event I attended, the first being with MORE2 in Kansas City in my native Missouri. It’s been wonderful having these opportunities to renew friendships since “I retired” from my official Gamaliel post a few months ago.

From David Liners, state director,  WISDOM, WI

Judge Wilbur W. Warren III signs on to “11x15” goal at CUSH’s Fire of Faith meeting.

At CUSH’s October 25 public meeting in Kenosha WI, Judge Wilbur W. Warren III joined those pledging to support “11x15.” The initiative calls for reducing the state’s population of those incarcerated by half – to 11,000 – by 2015.

Prison reform is a key issue for WISDOM, which represents several Gamaliel affiliates in Wisconsin. They cite a $1.3 billion corrections cost that accounts for a greater portion of the state’s budget than the university system.

The MORE2 October 18 Fire of Faith public meeting was an energizing event that served as the culmination of months of work around local, regional and national issues. The crowd of over 200 attendees included members of MORE2’s 20 metro area congregations and their supporters, from union members to elected officials.
