Community Organizer, Cincinnati Ohio The AMOS Project, a faith based organization, has an opening for an Organizer, in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Region.Primary responsibility is to further build this organization. Grassroots public influence will stamp out the root causes of poverty and deal with the metropolitics that continue the disparity of resources between Cincinnati, Covington and Newport (Kentucky) and the surrounding regional communities. Organizers must have a deep desire to address local and regional societal issues, identify leaders, and organize people, congregations and money to sustain the organization. Must be a self-motivated, systemic thinker. The positions are not social service or public relations positions. Candidates for the Organizer position must have rich experiences in community organizing, be a person of faith, and have the ability to manage the AMOS organization, with financial and organizational development skills. AMOS focus: Finding solutions to inequities and taking action on issues associated with; Public Education, Affordable Housing and Mixed-Income Neighborhoods, Regional Transportation, Race Relations, and Crime and Drugs, Jobs and economic development. Skills: Knowledge of political process/agenda, political savvy, leadership training, strong communication/writing skills, ability to handle diversity, to build key relationships with the leadership of congregations, developing alliances while remaining independent, promoting a social justice agenda, and knowledge of fund raising for non-profit organizations. The candidate must have a complimentary degree and/or equivalent experience in organizing congregational/community or union organizations, and must be computer literate. Organizers will be trained by the organization, and will be reviewed in accordance with their related competencies and experiences. A special mandatory training week will be a part of the orientation and screening. The Gamaliel Foundation, a network of 50 community organizations is the recruitment facilitator and training organization. Other positions will be occasionally available nationwide, and particularly would be in the Great Lakes region, the Ohio Valley, and in the Northeast United States.
