CUSH ANNOUNCES
2009 AWARD WINNERS

CUSH announces the recipients of the awards given at its 2009 Banquet.

The CUSH Justice Advocate Award
was given this year to Mr. Jack Waters.  Jack is the Executive Director of the Kenosha Community Health Center.  Under his leadership, the center has greatly expanded the medical and dental services available to low-income Kenosha residents.  He has helped to call community attention to the needs of many in our community, and he has acted to help meet those needs.

 The CUSH Distinguished Service Award
is given annually to a CUSH member who has been exemplary in providing leadership to the organization.  This year, the award was be shared by two local pastors, Rev. Jim Shadduck of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, and Fr. Ken Metz of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.  “We wouldn’t be who we are without the guidance and wisdom of our religious leaders of all denominations,” says Sandy Milligan, CUSH President.  “Fr. Ken and Pastor Jim were among the founders of CUSH, and this year they are both retiring.  It is a time for us to show our gratitude, and a time for the rest of us to step up to carry on the good work they have done in CUSH over the years.”

The awards were given at the annual CUSH banquet, which was held at the Italian American Club on May 7.  The keynote speaker for the event was ELCA Bishop Paul Stumme-Diers
