ABLE Leadership Meeting

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

ABLE Executive Committee requests that each congregation and organization have at least 3 representatives at this meeting as we begin to plan for our ABLE Public Meeting on October 23.
 

The focus of this meeting and each Leadership Meeting between now and October will be to organize a powerful Public Meeting of 2,000 people on October 23.  The board will act as the Public Meeting Organizing Committee for the next four months.

Agenda
 

 I.  Prayer / reflection

II.  Welcome and introductions

       III.  Action of Executive Committee to fill office of president

         IV.  Review and approval of minutes

          V.  Review and approval of financial statement

         VI.  Evaluation of June 28th training & July 12th canvassing

VII.  Statement by Rev. Timothy McDonald as to the historic moment this presidential election offers to the country and the role to be played by ABLE

      VIII.  Actions taken by Executive Committee for this meeting:

                a.  James Marble will be the chairman of the Public
                     Meeting Organizing Committee.

b.  David Schutten and Janine Brown will be in charge of organizing a strong labor contingent for this meeting.

c.  Rev. Timothy McDonald, Rev. Michael Wright, Father John Adamski, and Rev. Debra Shew will convene a Clergy Event in late September or early October to invite and energize clergy to participate in this event.

d.  Susana Olivera, Theo Turman, and Luis Oropeza Flores will organize an all day Saturday event for youth for to bring youth to this event.

e.  Larry Soublet, Willa Rose Johnson, and Ana Garcia-Ashley will organize the Catholic congregations of the diocese to participate in this event.

 IX.  Actions to be taken this evening:

                a.  Setting date for Clergy Event

b.  Setting date for Youth Training

c.  Establishing the following committees:

     i.  Site selection committee

     ii.  Committee to invite candidates for all national positions, denominational leaders, and congregations and clergy not now part of ABLE

iii.  A committee to form a joint choir for the event.

        IX.  First round of commitments for turnout for Public
               Meeting beginning with commitments made by the
               Executive Committee

         X.  Next leadership meeting

        XI.  Evaluation
