  • Moving from maintaining an institution to creating a community

  • Understanding the concept of "power" as what it takes to get it done

  • Reclaiming self-interest as a necessary tool to motivate one's self and to motivate others

  • Creating relationships as the pre-requisite to effective evangelization

  • Distinguishing between public and private relationships and how to move from co-dependent to healthy, accountable, productive relationships

  • Building organizations that can be effective vehicles for social change

Ana Garcia-Ashley, Gamaliel Foundation Southern Territory Director, will be the workshop leader.  A $10 donation is requested to cover lunch and other workshop expenses.  To register, contact Sherita Edwards, ABLE Community Organizer, at 678-271-7443 or Sherita@gamaliel.org .

ABLE LEADERSHIP MEETING ON JULY 31st

ABLE/Gamaliel exists to identify leaders, and then nurture, train, and develop those leaders so that together their voices can be heard.  We meet monthly on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.

This month we will be focusing on Good Jobs for Working Families.  Come learn why it is so hard for workers to get ahead today and what can be done to change that.  Hear workers tell what happened to them when they tried to organize into a union.  Charlie Flemming, President of the Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council,  will give facts about why workers and the middle class continue to fall behind as a few in this country reap the benefits at an alarming rate.  Learn about the Employee Free Choice Act that will help restore the balance of economic power in our country.

Congregations and organizations are encouraged to send six or more individuals who are interested in developing their leadership skills to the ABLE Leadership Meeting on Tues. July 31 at 7:00 PM at First Iconium Baptist Church, 542 Moreland Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30316.
