TRAINING INFORMATION

Religious Leaders: The Gamaliel National Clergy Training will be held April 15-17 in Mundelein, Illinois.  If you are interested in attending this event, please contact Sherita Edwards.

The 2008 Gamaliel National Clergy Training will be held at the University of St. Mary of the Lake Conference Center in Mundelein, Illinois, April 15-17.  The conference campus has 800 acres, mostly wooded, with a lake, and is located about 1/2 hour north of O'Hare airport.

There is a strong emphasis on the Faith & Democracy Campaign in the context of national politics and the need for clergy/religious leaders to be change agents.   Small group agitations will result in clergy/religious leaders developing commitments to build their organizations, strengthen their congregations, and provide leadership for fall F&D public meetings.  We want organizers to participate in this training to share the experience with their clergy/religious leaders and to be positioned to hold these leaders accountable back home to commitments made by them at the training.

Featured presenters include Dr. Forrest Harris, president of American Baptist College (a significant Bible college of the National Baptist Convention and alma mater of James Bevel, John Lewis, and C.T. Vivian) and Margarida Jorge, Organizing Director of SEIU's Americans for Better Health Care.

As always, this training is designed for all clergy/religious leaders regardless of whether they have previously been to the Gamaliel National Clergy Training (some choose to come year after year) and regardless of whether they have yet been to week long training.  Some organizers use this training event as a recruitment opportunity.

The cost of this training is $300 for registrations made before April 1.  After April 1, the registration cost is $350.  Payments in full are due prior to the event.
