Welcome to your Web Log!
To begin using your site, click the Content Management link above.
What is a Web Log? A Web Log is a site designed to help you share information. Web Logs can be used as news sites, journals, diaries, team sites, and more. It is your place on the World Wide Web.
Web Logs are typically displayed in reverse chronological order (newest entries first), and consist of frequent short postings. With this Web Log, it is also possible for your site visitors to comment on your postings.
In business, Web Logs can be used as a team communication tool. Keep team members in touch by providing a central place for links, relevant news, and even gossip.
Ensure Your Security
To protect your information, it is important for you to set permissions for your site.
1) Protect Draft Postings: With your Web Log it is possible to create 'draft' postings that only you can see. However, for this feature to be secure, you need to set access permissions for the Admin document library in this site.
To restrict access to the Admin document library, do the following: 1. Go to Site Settings page, click Go to Site Administration. 2. Click Manage Permission Inheritance, and then click Use Unique Permissions. 3. Click OK. 4. On the Site Settings page, click Modify Site Content. 5. Click Customize Admin, and then click Change Permissions for this Document Library. 6. Select Contributor and Reader users, and then click Remove Users. 7. Click OK.
Now, only authorized users will be able to see draft postings.
2) Give Users Access: For site visitors to visit your site, you need to add them to the Reader site group. For site visitors to be able to contribute postings, add them to the 'Contributor' site group.
To set user permissions: 1. Go to Site Settings and click Go to Site Administration. 2. Click Manage Permission Inheritance and then click Use Unique Permissions. 3. Click Ok. 4. On the Site Settings page, click Manage Users.
From there you can give access to users of your choice. |
