ISAIAH Organizer Position – GRIP St. Cloud Gamaliel Foundation Affiliate in Minnesota 2720 East 22nd Street, Minneapolis, MN 55406
ISAIAH ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY ISAIAH is an ecumenical, multi-racial, democratic and nonpartisan congregation-based community organization in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud regions of Minnesota. Our ninety member congregations (representing 175,000 individuals) work to promote racial and economic justice through intentional, intensive leadership development and collective, faith-based actions. ISAIAH works to ensure that all people, particularly the most vulnerable, are involved in creating their community’s future. ISAIAH is known as one of the most effective groups at the Capitol as well as throughout Twin Cities and St Cloud communities.
ISAIAH's Great River Interfaith Partnership (GRIP) in St. Cloud has been recognized as the most effective voice and vehicle for social justice in the community. GRIP has led successful campaigns for affordable housing, a community policing agreement, and funding for public education and for battered women's shelters. GRIP is a founding member of ISAIAH and has its own history and organizational structure including its own president and leadership team.
ISAIAH POSITION SUMMARY:
ISAIAH ORGANIZER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Disciplined focus on intentional leadership development through 1:1 conversations, identifying interest, inviting grassroots leaders into roles in the public arena and engaging them in national and local leadership development trainings. · Engage grassroots leaders in collective action for social change through identifying issues, training leaders and getting them into direct action with policy-makers and decision-makers at a local, state-wide and federal level. · Build intentional relationships with clergy and religious leaders: identifying interests and challenges in congregations, exploring how ISAIAH membership meets congregational needs and constructing strategies for congregational development in partnership with ISAIAH. · Must be able to construct long term strategic plans for building metro-wide and state-wide power for racial, economic, and social justice. · Build strong relationship with ISAIAH supervisor and GRIP leadership; be willing to develop self through feedback/agitation from organizing staff and leaders. · Show strong commitment to racial equity and support open dialogue on sensitive justice issues such as gay rights and civil rights for immigrants. · Able to work effectively with non-Christian and immigrant populations, as well as other local community organizations and leaders, and work in non-partisan manner across a range of political identities. · Must reside in the St. Cloud area.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years of professional community organizing experience or leadership experience in the community. College degree preferred.
This position requires a self-motivated, self-directed, reflective and strategic person. Organizers must be willing to take risks and be open to evaluation and agitation by their colleagues.

Final candidates will be required to attend the Gamaliel Foundation National Leadership Training, August 9-15, Techny, IL. ISAIAH will cover all training expenses.
Gamaliel’s National Leadership Training is a weeklong training event that presents the basic concepts and tools needed to be an effective leader in the public arena, and provides the leadership development and reflection needed for effective community organizing.
